The European Institute of Innovation has selected Bluephage among 20 innovative companies to find solutions to water scarcity
Bluephage is presented as a proposal within the case study Public water utility managing water and wastewater services in central Italy, with the key challenges: “Reclamation activities of non-conventional water resources for agriculture purposes and water balance in the coastal natural park.”
Twenty innovative European companies have been selected to participate in the “Water Scarcity” program, which seeks to support innovative solutions to water scarcity. This is one of the main current and future problems in southern Europe, which has led the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) to launch this initiative.
The EIT drives innovation in Europe by:
– Improving Europe’s innovation capacity, competitiveness, and quality of life.
– Creating innovation ecosystems to increase cooperation and integration between business, education, and research across Europe.
– Addressing societal challenges through the different Innovation Communities.
This program is a cross-sectoral activity in which several Communities and EIT partners have joined forces to tackle the real challenges posed by water scarcity.
The chosen companies, which already have solutions at an advanced stage of development, will participate in the program over the next three months. The program includes extensive training focused on scaling and international business development.
The 20 companies have been grouped into three sectoral challenges, defined by three selected entities from Spain, Italy, and Greece, seeking answers to their specific water-related needs.
This way, the initiative brings together companies with an identified problem and those who can provide them with a solution. It has been organized thanks to the collaboration between different EIT knowledge communities and coordinated by EIT Food, with the participation of EIT Climate-KIC, EIT Digital, EIT Manufacturing, and other partners such as Athena Research and Bioazul.
We will know the results of this project in October 2021.
